How the Packing Line Works
This stand-up pouch packing line is designed for berries and similar granular products that require both premium retail packaging and stable secondary transport packaging.
The system integrates the following processes:
- Feeding and raw material handling
- Precise weighing system
- Premade pouch filling
- Metal detection and checkweighing
- Automatic case packing
- Carton sealing
- Robotic palletizing
Raw materials such as dried fruits, grains, or nutraceutical blends are first cleaned and screened to remove impurities, improving weighing accuracy and sealing stability.
Products are conveyed via a Z-type bucket elevator to a multihead weigher for precise portioning (typically 10g–1500g).
After weighing, products are filled into premade pouches, providing a cleaner appearance and stronger shelf impact compared to form-fill-seal packaging.
Finished pouches pass through a checkweigher and metal detector before entering the case packing section. Only qualified products proceed downstream.
To avoid bottlenecks, two pouch packing machines are typically connected to one case packing line for balanced production capacity.
Cartons are automatically erected and reinforced with a bottom cardboard insert.
A vision-guided pick-and-place system loads pouches into cartons accurately even when pouch positions vary.
After loading, a top cardboard sheet is inserted, followed by weight checking, carton sealing, and optional strapping.
Finally, cartons are palletized by an industrial robot according to programmed stacking patterns for stable storage and transport.
Packing Line Configuration
The line is compatible with a wide range of high-quality packaging materials, designed to preserve product freshness, enhance shelf appeal, and meet sustainability goals:
| Section | Equipment | Main Function |
|---|---|---|
| Product Feeding | Z-type bucket elevator | Gentle conveying of granular |
| Weighing | 10 Multihead weigher | Accurate dosing from 10–1500 g |
| Primary Packaging | 8-station premade pouch machine | Pouch feeding, opening, filling, sealing |
| Inspection | Checkweigher + metal detector | Verify pouch weight and product safety |
| Case Preparation | Automatic case erector | Form and bottom-seal corrugated cartons |
| Inner Protection | Bottom cardboard inserter | Place protective sheet inside carton bottom |
| Case Packing | Vision-guided case packer | Pick and load pouches into cartons |
| Inner Protection | Top cardboard inserter | Place protective sheet above pouch layer |
| Carton Finishing | Case sealer + PP strapping | Seal and reinforce cartons |
| Palletizing | Industrial robot palletizer | Build stable finished pallets |
What Is a Premade Pouch Packing Machine?
The premade pouch packing machine is a core unit of the production line, responsible for completing the full pouch packaging cycle in a continuous automated process.
It supports multiple pouch types:
- Flat pouches
- Stand-up pouches (doypack)
- Zipper pouches
It is suitable for granular products, food items, and nutraceutical materials using laminated films.
The system integrates multiple stations:
- Pouch feeding
- Date coding
- Pouch opening
- Product filling
- Sealing
- Finished pouch discharge
Each stage is precisely controlled to ensure stable operation, accurate dosing, and consistent sealing quality.
Compared with vertical form-fill-seal systems, premade pouch packaging provides:
- Better appearance quality
- More uniform sealing lines
- Stronger shelf impact
- Higher brand perception
This makes it ideal for premium markets such as Europe and North America.
Why Use Stand Up Pouch Packing with Protective Design?
Stand-up pouches have an uneven structure: a reinforced bottom gusset and a flexible top sealing area, which makes stacking and transport more difficult than rigid packaging.
To solve this, the system uses a dual-layer cardboard protection design:
- Bottom cardboard sheet for load stabilization
- Top cardboard sheet after pouch loading
This structure improves internal load balance and reduces deformation risk during transport.
It significantly improves carton stability during:
- Palletizing
- Warehouse handling
- Long-distance shipping
It also protects products from:
- Compression damage
- Moisture exposure
- Impact during transport
From a commercial perspective, this structure improves unboxing experience and reduces product damage rates.
By combining pouch packing, case packing, protective insertion, sealing, and robotic palletizing, the system delivers a fully integrated high-efficiency production solution.
